Don’t agree with the existence of the post

An elected Police Comissioner will result in a race to the bottom of who can be ‘toughest on criminals’ and who can put ‘most bobbies on the beat’, despite these response being demonstrably not the best way to create a coherent and effective crime and community safety strategy. An elected post will also inevitably involve party politics, again undesirable in an area of policy making that should rely heavily on evidence and experience.
